Markos Moulitsas, founder of the Net’s leading liberal website in terms of traffic and political influence, Daily Kos, has a rather curious and odd background for a leader of the Left—one that might explain his official policy of banning any Diarist who posts information or opinion dissenting from the 9/11 Commission’s unraveling myth about the attacks….

Moulitsas began working for the Howard Dean campaign, and simultaneously launching Daily Kos, in 2002, shortly after his romance with the CIA. One may speculate that perhaps the romance never fully ended—and wonder if the CIA’s IT venture capital subsidiary, In-Q-Tel, may have provided development and/or funding assistance to spark the meteoric rise of Daily Kos….

The CIA has also been accused of providing seed money for both Facebook, and Google, according to former CIA clandestine officer Robert David Steele. As one critic has noted: “The CIA does not merely look into social media—they appear to own it.”

If Moulitsas is a digital-age Mockingbird (the CIA’s Cold War program of infiltrating and co-opting the American media; ), perhaps he is exercising a role similar to that of Rahm Emmanuel, who as chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in the 2006 elections, steered party funds to pro-war Democrats while starving anti-war candidates. If that is the agenda of Daily Kos—to maintain the Democratic party’s inertia as co-dependent enablers of the military-industrial complex and it’s boondoggle War on Terror—it seems to be succeeding wildly. Suppressing any alternative narrative of 9/11, the foundational keystone of this war, would be a crucial element of such a strategy.

“Dissecting the Mainstream Media

In 1996 Gary Webb, a prize-winning investigative journalist at San Jose Mercury News, found himself at the center of a major storm caused by his three-part investigative series published under the title “Dark Alliance.” The series connected the CIA to the contra-cocaine scandal and alleged that Nicaraguan drug traffickers had used the drug profits from selling crack cocaine in the U.S. to finance the CIA-supported Nicaraguan Contras. The connections documented by Webb did not claim ‘direct involvement’ by the CIA but thoroughly established that the CIA was aware of the cocaine transactions and the large shipments of cocaine into the U.S. by Contra personnel. Webb’s story was supported by hundreds of documents obtained through FOIA, transcripts, and audio interviews – all of which were published later on his website.

The attacks on and denials of Webb’s series began right away. The ‘Gang of Three’ – Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, and The Washington Post, put on a united front and viciously attempted to debunk the link between the crack epidemic in the U.S. and the Contras. A decade earlier, the same ‘Gang’ had either downplayed or dismissed the 80s contra-cocaine scandal. Despite all the facts that came out of Sen. Kerry’s half-way Contra Hearings, despite sound evidence presented in an AP article by Robert Parry and Brian Berger, the ‘Gang’ never truly followed up or provided deserved coverage of Contra Crimes.

“The government side of the story is coming through the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the Washington Post,” he said. “They use the giant corporate press rather than saying anything directly. If you work through friendly reporters on major newspapers, it comes off as the New York Times saying it and not a mouthpiece of the CIA.”

“The only way you’re going to do effective journalism is to be truly independent. It’s a difficult thing to do, but George Seldes and I.F. Stone did it. There’s no reason modern-day journalists can’t do it too. You don’t get 401-Ks and health benefits, but at least you get to tell the truth.”

Webb’s case is only one example where the corporate media unite and gang up to smear, marginalize, and silence colleagues who dare to sidestep the conventional establishment trend, who insist on carrying out real investigative journalism independently and objectively, and who actually succeed in unveiling the truth buried in between the layers of the secrecy web created by the government. Sadly, ‘the gang’ has been effective and successful. Take a look at the field; how many Webbs do you see still standing? The last time I counted, not many.

New York Times Misses Out Again

Okay, so they sat on the Bush spying story for a year, they lied about Iraq, they continue to push war-promoting garbage, and now we find out this?

NEW YORK – The reporter rushed up to his editor, thunderstruck by what the FBI’s acting director had just let him know: The former attorney general – maybe even the president – was complicit in the Watergate break-in two months before. But The New York Times let the hot tip fall through the cracks…. 

Sure they didn’t drop it in there?

“We missed out,” the now-retired editor, Robert H. Phelps, said in an interview yesterday….

So what else ya’ “missing?”

Phelps, a managing editor and executive editor of The Boston Globe after he left the Times, revealed it in “God and the Editor: My Search for Meaning at The New York Times,” a memoir published last month by Syracuse University Press.

The former reporter, Robert M. Smith, noticed that no story appeared in the newspaper and figured the information had proved off-base. Phelps said he can’t recall what effort, if any, was made to flesh out the tip or confirm it with other officials. He went on a monthlong vacation a week after Smith’s departure….

The Times declined to comment.

US Representative Edward J. Markey said federal energy and climate legislation he coauthored could bring 150,000 jobs and billions of dollars to Massachusetts if enacted. The legislation seeks to create national guidelines that would spur the use of renewable energy and curb greenhouse gas emissions, while also adding “green” jobs.

Speaking yesterday at a Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce luncheon, the Malden Democrat said his climate legislation could benefit Massachusetts companies like Evergreen Solar, which makes solar panels, and A123Systems, which manufactures lithium-ion batteries.

Evergreen, huh?

“Evergreen Solar, which makes solar power wafers, reported a wider first-quarter loss than expected on lower prices and costs to double production capacity. Its net loss grew to $64.3 million“

I keep telling you the enviro-frauds never make any money!

That’s what tax dollars are for; however, one gets the feeling green energy would move much quicker at the local level. How come no money went to outfitting every home in America with solar panels, huh?  Certainly would cost less than the bank bailouts and wars, and it would accomplish the fart-misters goals…. unless that’s not what it is about at all, huh?

But it is unclear just how much more those families will have to pay for energy….

Oh, now he’s worried about the debt after tossing away who knows how many billions on these taxpayer-looting losers!
